Murder probe after body found in Crewe

Cheshire Police have today named the victim as a murder investigation continues in the death of the man.

Mariusz Mokras, 41 originally from Poland was formally named as the victim by Cheshire Police.

Paramedics along with the police attended the property in Lord Street, on Friday evening, 3rd January.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the identity of the victim has not been made public at this time.

In a statement released by Cheshire Police, Detective Inspector Paul Hughes said:

I understand that incidents of this nature are extremely concerning to the community and I would like to reassure them that we are everything we can to establish exactly what has taken place and who was responsible.

We are at the early stages of our investigation.

At this time this appears to be an isolated incident.

Enquiries are ongoing and I urge anyone with any information that may help our investigation to get in touch.

Police have arrested two males on suspicion of murder. A 22 year old has been released on conditional bail while a 39 year old has been released pending further enquiries.

The report comes after rumours circulated on social media over the weekend about an incident in Crewe.

Officers remand at the scene today, formal identification of the victim has not yet taken place.
