MP provokes anger defending minister accused of bullying

Crewe and Nantwich MP Dr Kieran Mullan has received an angry response after defending the Home Secretary Priti Patel.

Patel was the subject of a bullying investigation this year, she has always denied the allegations.

The BBC has reported that the investigation into the claims found Patel did break the rules regarding a Ministers behaviour.

The tweet comes at a time when MP’s across all parties are promoting anti-bullying week.

In later tweet the MP also revealed he previously worked as an intern for Patel.

One local resident replied to the tweet saying the response condoned bullying.

Another tweet questioned the notion that because the MP had not witnessed the alleged behaviour directly that it did not happen.

In the very early hours the next day (20th November) The MP posted another tweet where he revealed his work as an intern.

The tweets appear to be an effort by the Conservative Party to defuse the row over Patel’s behaviour. It follows a series of very similar tweets from other Conservative MPs

Philp and Foster are both Junior Ministers in the Home Office working for the Home Secretaty.
