Local Conservative MP Dr Kieran Mullan has this evening voted to support the Internal Market Bill.
This bill essentially gives Boris Johnson the power to ignore his own Brexit agreement he struck with the EU back in October 2019.
The Brexit agreement, formally known as the EU Withdrawal Agreement is a legally binding treaty between the UK and the European Union.
MPs backed the controversial Internal Market Bill by 340 votes to 263 in the vote tonight.
Earlier this week the Conservative government made the astonishing admission that the bill breaks international law, albeit only in a “very limited way”.
Several Conservative MPs have rebelled however and voted against their own government.
Dr Mullan recently made the local headlines when he failed to vote for the Fire Safety Bill, abstaining as he was self isolating due to the coronavirus.
