Parish Councillor Brian Silvester has had his Twitter account suspended for violating the platform’s rules yesterday evening Crewe News can reveal.
Mr Silvester has angered many people locally over the past weeks as he continued to share conspiracy theories regarding the Coronavirus, suggesting it was part of a plan to harvest human DNA.
He has also questioned the existence of the virus in other tweets.
In a series of other tweets, Mr Silvester has also claimed that Donald Trump won the US Presidential election.
Mr Silvester is a candidate in the upcoming Crewe West by-election, standing for his own newly created party, Putting Crewe First.
Speaking to Crewe News. Labour Candidate Connor Naismtih said:
I am not aware of the particular circumstances regarding Mr Silvester’s suspension from Twitter. We can only hope this is a sign of social media companies taking strong action against those who spread life threatening misinformation about the pandemic and the vaccine
Crewe News has approached Mr Silvester for comment.
